Mark Campbell, Principal

My passion is helping companies discover and define their authentic and unique brand story, and then crafting marketing & communications solutions to meaningfully distinguish them and thus create enduring bonds with their customers.

I am a firm believer that the ultimate role and goal of purposeful and thoughtful marketing is to support the sales process in order to generate revenue, earn and keep customers and above all, deliver exceptional ROI.

I have 25 years of experience across a variety of industries, including consumer packaged goods, specialty retail and upscale travel & hospitality. The first half of my career was spent as an account director in two advertising agencies and as a marketing director with a specialty retail chain operator and a software developer.

My other passion is world travel and the second half of my career has been spent in upscale travel and hospitality. I have been blessed to have worked for some of the world’s greatest travel companies, including:

  • Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants (Senior Vice President, Branding & Communications)
  • TCS Expeditions (President)
  • Virtuoso (Director, Supplier Relations)
  • 12degrees.com (Vice President of Marketing) and
  • Mountain Travel Sobek (Director of Marketing).

At the beginning of 2009, I founded Solaia Consulting to offer marketing, branding and general management services to small and mid-sized clients. (Solaia means “the sunny one” in Italian.) My recent and current clients include Wildland Adventures, the Adventure Travel Trade Association, Austin-Lehman Adventures and Pure North Resorts.

I serve on the advisory board of Sustainable Travel International and am an active supporter of the Adventure Travel Trade Association. I love photography, wine, biking and sharing the great Pacific Northwest with my wife, two boys and our Bernese Mountain Dog.
